Film Synopsis

‘Home Away From Home’ is a short documentary that sheds light on the often overlooked aspects of New York City's Chinatown. While Chinatown is typically associated with cheap food and bustling streets, this project delves deeper into the neighborhood's transformation due to gentrification, its historical significance, and the sense of community it fosters.

My Role

For my Digital Production for New Media class at Fordham University, I collaborated with Cindy Wu to capture the essence of Chinatown's history and the challenges it faces. Derived from our personal connection to the neighborhood and community, we identified key stakeholders to interview, filmed scenes in Chinatown, and showcased a narrative of what Chinatown means to those who reside in it.
